The selection will be based on Written Examination and Personal Interview.

Written Examination
- OMR based OR Computer Based Test will be held for Screened-In candidates.
- The duration of examination will be of 2 Hrs.
- Additional 20 minutes for each hour will be given to PwBD candidates.
- Examination will comprise 100 multiple choice questions (Choice of four answers) in the following proportion:-

- Result of written examination will be displayed at NPCIL website www.npcilcareers.co.in only.
Marking Scheme:
01 (One) mark will be awarded for each correct answer and 1/4th marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
Qualifying Standards
The qualifying standards shall be as follows:
General Category (UR/EWSs) – 40% marks
SC/ST/OBC/PwBD – 30% marks (wherever vacancy exists).
Accordingly, the General/EWSs Candidates < 40% marks and the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD with < 30% marks will be screened out for Personal Interview.
The number of candidates shortlisted for Personal Interview would depend upon the number of candidates qualifying for Personal Interview but will not exceed 5 times the number of vacancies notified in all reserved and unreserved categories for each post. In case adequate numbers of candidates are not available, then only candidates qualified will be interviewed and will not be adjusted from candidates qualified in other categories. However, in case of tie the number of candidates to be interviewed will exceed the limit of 5 times

Personal Interview
The shortlisted candidates will undergo for Personal Interview only on successful completion of Document Verification and Essential Physical Standard Examination (if applicable).

Merit List
The Merit List will be prepared based on the marks obtained in written examination and Personal Interview.
- For preparing the Merit List, weightage of 50% will be given to written test and 50% of Personal Interview marks in equal proportion.
- In the event of a tie, following criteria shall be adopted in sequence for deciding position in merit list:-
- Candidates with higher marks in written examination will be placed higher on the merit list.
- Candidates with higher marks in Part-II of Written Exam will be placed higher on the merit list.
- Candidates with higher marks in Personal Interview will be placed higher on the merit list.
- Candidates with lower negative marks in Written Exam will be placed higher on the merit list.
- Candidates older in age will be placed higher on the merit list.

Written Examination
The written examination will be OMR based or Computer Based Test(CBT)
The Written Examination will be in two stages:
Stage-1- Preliminary Test (1 Hour Duration)
Stage-2- Advanced Test (2 Hours Duration)
Stage-1 – Preliminary Test
- It will be a screening examination to be held to shortlist candidates. The format of the screening examination shall be common for all the non-technical cadres. In keeping with the minimum educational qualification of graduation as per the Recruitment Norms, the questions will be of Graduation level.

Critical Reasoning – 25 Questions
- (b) 03 (Three) marks to be awarded for each correct answer and 01 (one) mark to be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Qualifying Standards: The qualifying standards shall be as follows:
General Category (UR)/EWS – 30% marks
SC/ST/OBC/PwBD – 20% marks (applicable if vacancy exist in relevant reserved category).
Accordingly, the General Candidates/EWSs < 30% marks and the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD with < 20% marks will be screened out for Stage-3.

A merit list of candidates will be prepared after Stage-2 based upon scores obtained in Stage-2 only.

In the event of a tie, following criteria shall be adopted in sequence for deciding position in merit list:
- Candidates with lower negative marks in Stage-2 to be placed higher on the merit list.
- Candidates with higher marks in Stage-1 to be placed higher on the merit list.
- Candidates with lower negative marks in Stage-1 to be placed higher on the merit list.
- Date of birth of the candidates.
- Candidates to undertake the Preliminary and Advance Test on the same day. Preliminary Test may be carried out in the morning session and the advance test for candidates screened in for Stage-2 to be carried out in the afternoon/evening session.
Stage 3 : Skill Test
- Based upon the merit list prepared after Stage-2, Candidates will be shortlisted for Skill Test.
- The number of candidates shortlisted for Skill Test would depend upon the number of candidates qualifying for Stage-2 but shall not exceed 5 times the number of vacancies for each post.

- Typewriting Test in English on Personal Computer (PC); and
- Computer Proficiency Test

Skill test for Steno Grade-1
- English Stenography Test
- Typewriting Test in English on Personal Computer (PC);and
- Computer Proficiency Test
English Stenography is compulsory and preference will be given to those candidates who also possess knowledge of Hindi Typing/Hindi Stenography.
- The Skill tests will be of qualifying nature only on GO/No Go basis.
- Candidates clearing the Skill Test to be shortlisted and empanelled in order of merit based on marks secured in Stage-2.

Note:
- Qualifying in test at Sl.No. 1 is compulsory, failing which the candidates is unfit for recruitment and further tests need not be carry out.
- The qualifying percentage marks required for the tests from Sr.No.2 to Sr.No.7 (taking equal weightage) put together shall be 90% and above on an average.
- Physical Assessment Test/Physical Endurance Test applicable for the candidates between 45-50 years shall also be applicable for the candidates beyond 50 years.
- Driving Test (If applicable) is mandatory for the candidate to qualifify.
- The skill test will be of qualifying nature only on Go / No Go basis.

Wait List
A wait list containing equal number of candidates as in the select main list shall be prepared and operated only in the event of occurrence of a vacancy caused by non-joining of the candidate from the select list within the stipulated time allowed for joining the post or where a candidate joins the post but resigns or dies within a period of one year from the date of joining, if a fresh panel is not available by that time. Wait list however, will not be operated beyond one year or after notification of such recruitment, whichever is earlier.
